Rules for the nespresso design contest 2008
Nestlé nespresso s.a., route du lac 3, 1094 paudex, switzerland (hereafter “nespresso”), is organizing a design contest for ideas on Coffeeluxury.
The theme explores luxury as a state of mind, an attitude, a Permanent search for excellence and the ultimate beauty of Simplicity.

Art. 2 – target
The contest is open to enrolled students of national or International design schools. Teams may participate in the contest, Provided a project leader is elected and is responsible for the design.
Art. 3 – participation
Participation is free of charge. All applications must register online Under www.nespresso.com/design from march 1st to october 31st, 2007. When the project data is received, it will be given an identification Code for purposes of anonymity in the judging process.
All projects compliant with the contest rules will go through a 1st Selection (see specifications below) and participants whose projects Are elected for the 2nd selection will have to send a 3-d model of Their project.
1st selection (deadline: october 31st, 2007)
All projects must consist in:
One or two boards on a1 format (59.4 cm x 84.1 cm) affixed to a rigid Support made of a light material no thicker than 0.5 cm. Boards Must include any indications participants deem essential to a Complete understanding of the project. Projects must be Accompanied by a cover note of maximum one-page (a4 format) Briefly illustrating the aims and guidelines of the project within The context of the required theme. Each project must be marked With the student’s identification code. These drawings will have
To be sent to milan (weber shandwick, via pietrasanta 14, i-20141 Milan, f.a.o. ms. Novella d'incecco) by october 31st, 2007.
All projects passing the initial phase will go through the final Selection, and selected participants will be informed via e-mail by December 2007.
2nd selection (deadline: january 31st, 2008)
Depending on the schools’ facilities and type of project, Nespresso will ask the selected participants to develop a 3-d Model of their project and send it, at the participant's cost, to
Milan, italy (detailed coordinates will be communicated in due Time) no later than january 31st, 2008.
All 3-d models, together with a selection of drawings, will be Exhibited during the milan design fair in april 2008. The official competition language is english.
Art. 4 – jury
The contest jury is comprised of international design experts, as well As representatives from nespresso.

Art. 6 – prizes
Prizes will be as follows:
1st prize: € 12,000.-
2nd prize: € 7,000.-
3rd prize: € 4,000.-
+ 1 special mention (€ 3,000.-)
Art. 7 – results and publication
The winners will be informed in person by e-mail and their names will Be announced publicly during the prize-giving ceremony. The contest will be considered terminated when the prizes are Awarded. The winning project and a selection of other projects will
Be featured in the nespresso magazine.
Art. 8 – ip rights & release
By participating in the contest, each participant authorizes nespresso to Use, display, publish, stock, reproduce, represent and/or adapt the Submitted project in any manner, on any support, or in any existing or Future media, in all countries and for all time, for contest, educational, Communication, and/or marketing purposes of any nature, and without Compensation to the participant, except for and excluding the Manufacture and sale of the submitted project on an industrial basis.
Participants who are selected as winners and awarded the first, second or Third prize grant nespresso a 1-year option to develop and industrialize the Project. If nespresso exercises this option, then the participant grants to Nespresso an exclusive, world-wide, unlimited license to develop, Industrialize, manufacture and sell products based on the project in Exchange for reasonable compensation to be mutually agreed and Formalized in a separate agreement.
Each participant represents (i) that the submitted project is the result of His or her own original work, (ii) that he/she is the author thereof, and (iii) That while not guaranteeing the absence of any conflicting rights, he/she Has no actual knowledge or particular reason to believe that it violates Any third-party rights.
Art. 9 – return of data
The project data and models will become the property of nespresso and Shall not be returned to the participants.
Art. 10 – personal data protection
Personal data supplied for participation will be used solely for the Purpose of the competition. It may be passed to third-parties for related Purposes and publication. Participants consent to the use of their names And likeness in association with this contest and nespresso communication.
Art. 11 – applicable law
Without prejudice to any national and international intellectual Property rights in the projects arising by operation of law in favour of the Participants, the nespresso design contest is governed by swiss law and any Disputes that may arise in relation to it come under the exclusive Jurisdiction of the courts of lausanne.
